FOR PUMP AND VALVE MAKERS
A pump or valve order touches bought-in castings, machining, bought-out parts, assembly, a pressure or performance test and a stack of documents. Kojo prices each unit from your own rates, keeps the bill of materials at today's prices and follows the order through to dispatch and payment.
HOW THE WORK IS PRICED
Castings set the base cost. Bodies, bonnets, casings, impellers and discs come in grey or ductile iron, cast carbon steel such as WCB, stainless such as CF8 and CF8M, or bronze, bought per kg from foundries or poured in-house, so their price moves with metal prices. Then come the bought-out parts: motors for pump sets, mechanical seals, bearings, gaskets, actuators and fasteners. Material of construction changes the price sharply. A valve with stainless or hard-faced trim, or a pump with a stainless impeller and shaft, costs far more than the same size in standard materials.
Conversion covers machining of bodies and casings, flange facing and drilling, impeller balancing, seat lapping, assembly and painting. Testing is a real cost: valves go through shell and seat tests to standards such as API 598, and pumps run on a test bed for head, flow and power, often to ISO 9906. Project buyers add documentation, material test certificates traced to heat numbers, and customer or third-party inspection, and often hold back part of the payment until documents or commissioning. Distributors and the replacement market, by contrast, buy catalogue models from a price list less a discount, so that list has to keep pace with real cost.
THE HEADACHES
Most bodies and casings come from outside foundries at a rate per kg that moves with metal prices. A casting that leaks at the hydro test also wastes the machining already done on it.
One valve in several sizes, pressure classes, end connections and trims, or one pump in several materials and motor ratings, multiplies into hundreds of models. Costing each by hand is slow, and the price list falls behind.
Project enquiries need datasheets, revisions and clarifications, and can stay open for weeks. With dozens of offers out, follow-up depends on someone remembering.
Part of the payment often waits for documents, inspection or commissioning. Small balances on old orders add up, and nobody chases them.
THE WORKFLOW
A distributor orders from the price list, or a project buyer sends datasheets with size, pressure class, material of construction, duty point, end connections and test and inspection needs.
Select the model and materials, then cost castings, bought-out parts, machining, assembly, testing, painting and documents, and add margin.
Release casting orders to foundries against your patterns, and buy motors, seals, bearings and trim parts.
Machine bodies, bonnets, casings and impellers, balance impellers, lap seats and assemble.
Hydro test valves for shell and seat, run pumps on the test bed, hold customer or third-party inspection where required and prepare test certificates.
Dispatch with documents and invoice, then follow each payment through to the final balance.
WHERE KOJO FITS
COMMERCIAL
LIVEPick the customer and model, and Kojo builds the quote: castings and bar from the raw-material price master, machining from your rates, and assembly, testing and documentation from your own rates and costing rules, set up during onboarding. The PDF quote is ready in minutes.

ROLLING OUTDefine each model's bill of materials once: castings, trim, seals, bearings, motor and fasteners. Kojo shows the true cost at today's material prices, so you can see when the price list has fallen behind.
Explore module →COMMERCIAL
LIVECaptures your senior estimator's cycle times for boring, facing, drilling and turning of bodies, casings, shafts and impellers, with machine hour rates and setup allowances, and applies them the same way on every quote.

ROLLING OUTEvery offer sent gets an automatic follow-up schedule by email and WhatsApp, so project enquiries don't go cold while they wait for a decision.
Explore module →OPERATIONS
ROLLING OUTTracks castings, seals, bearings, gaskets and other consumables against real usage, and warns at the reorder point, rounded up to the supplier's minimum order quantity.

ROLLING OUTReminds customers before and after each due date on WhatsApp, email and SMS, and shows who owes what and for how long, including small balances on older orders.

Start with quoting, add production, inventory and payments, then scale across plants with integrations and a dedicated support team.
STARTER
Start with quoting. Casting prices, machining rates, bought-out costs and margins go into Kojo, so catalogue models and project offers are priced the same way, and every offer is followed up.
GROWTH
Add BOM costing and inventory to keep model costs at today's prices and bought-out stock in check, then shop-floor logging and payment reminders as the order book grows.
ENTERPRISE
For makers with a foundry and a separate machining or assembly plant, or several sites, Enterprise adds multi-plant roll-up reporting, an open API and integrations for accounting and ERP systems, a dedicated support team and an uptime SLA.
NUMBERS TO WATCH
FIRST-PASS TEST RATE
Units that fail the hydro or performance test come back for rework after all the cost is in.MATERIAL COST AGAINST STANDARD
Castings and bought-out parts are most of the cost, so drift here goes straight to margin.OFFER-TO-ORDER CONVERSION
Shows whether offers are priced right and followed up, especially on project enquiries.OVERDUE RECEIVABLES BY AGE
Balances held back for documents or commissioning are easy to forget and slow to collect.COMMON MATERIALS

QUESTIONS
Yes. With BOM costing you define each model's bill of materials once, and Kojo works out the true part cost at today's material prices from the raw-material price master. It also shows consumption variance against standard.
Every quote sent from Kojo gets an automatic follow-up schedule by email and WhatsApp. Offers are chased on time instead of relying on someone's memory.
