Work out a per-piece price the way a good estimator does: material from the part weight, machining from cycle time and machine hour rate, setup spread across the batch, then overhead and margin.
HOW IT WORKS
| Raw material | Part weight × material rate per kg. Weight comes from the stock shape, size and length, including your parting and facing allowance. |
| Machining | Cycle time in minutes × machine hour rate ÷ 60. Use the turning estimate as a starting point, then add loading and other operations. |
| Setup | Setup minutes × machine hour rate ÷ 60, divided by the batch quantity. Small batches carry more setup per piece. |
| Overhead and margin | Overhead is a percentage of material, machining and setup. Margin is then applied on top of the full cost. |

QUESTIONS
Add raw material (weight × rate per kg), machining (cycle time × machine hour rate), and setup spread across the batch. Then add overhead as a percentage of that cost, and your margin on top.
It depends on the machine, the region and what you include: depreciation, power, tooling, labour and floor space. Work it out from your own costs rather than copying a market figure.
Setup time is fixed per batch. Spread over 10 pieces it adds far more per piece than over 1,000, so always quote with the real batch size.
